Daggerwing, a leading change management agency, teamed up with Cassette to develop a cutting-edge internal communications platform for Takeda. Through Cassette's innovative Virtual View product, the platform was designed to effectively communicate Takeda's core values and philosophy to its global workforce of over 50,000 employees.

As a member of the Cassette development team, I had the privilege of collaborating with Daggerwing to deliver a seamless user experience. Leveraging a custom in-house plugin within Unreal Engine 4, we were able to render 360 panoramic videos and export them with markup information for the web development team to integrate into the virtual tour functionality. The end result was a visually stunning web-based virtual tour that showcased Unreal Engine 4's real-time rendering capabilities and high-fidelity graphics.

 
 
 

Programming

Character AI

I developed an AI component that enables characters to navigate the map by following a sequence of target points. This component offers a range of functionalities, such as allowing for changes in direction, looping behaviors, and specifying the time required to complete the journey. Moreover, depending on the time required to complete the journey, the character's movement animation will transition between different states. For instance, if the distance is far and the journey requires more time, the character's movement animation will interpolate from walking to running.


Character Creator Pipeline

As a team member, I played a significant role in defining the pipeline between Unreal Engine 4 and Reallusion's Character Creator. Moreover, I contributed towards the preparation of newly imported characters for further enhancements and functionalities. This involved extensive testing to ensure that the characters were imported seamlessly and that all functionalities were in place. I also worked towards streamlining the import process and eliminating any potential bottlenecks to optimize the workflow.


Panoramic Rendering Plugin

During the project's lifetime, I was assigned the responsibility of integrating our in-house 360 panoramic render tool into blueprints, to enable designers and artists to access it easily. This task required meticulous planning to ensure that the tool was appropriately exposed and fully functional within the editor. I worked diligently to guarantee that the tool's functionality remained intact while being made accessible to designers and artists, and I ensured that the tool could be seamlessly integrated into their workflow.

3DVista UI, Interaction, Scene & localisation

In a previous version of the project, which was developed using a 360 virtual tour platform, I had the sole responsibility of implementing all the behaviours of the site, including integrating all panoramic images rendered out of Unreal Engine 4, implementing all content and localisations, and ultimately packaging the project for publishing. This variant of the project was localised in German, English, and Japanese, and each language version contained some unique elements. Moreover, I optimized all the UI elements and interactables for both desktop and mobile platforms, ensuring that users could access the virtual tour seamlessly across different devices. This task required extensive collaboration with the development and art teams to ensure that all elements aligned seamlessly with the project's vision and design criteria. My attention to detail and expertise in implementing complex functionalities played a significant role in delivering a fully functional and engaging virtual tour experience for users.


Character Creation

In the early stages of the project, I had a significant role in designing and creating some of the characters within the scene, which involved discovering the pipeline into Unreal Engine 4. This task required me to work closely with the art team to ensure that the characters' designs aligned with the project's vision and visual style.
